VaitheeswaranKoil is a Hindu Temple ofLord Shiva, located in Tamilnadu. Shiva is worshipped as the "God and it is believed that prayers to the God can cure diseases. The word Vaitheeswaran is derived from Vaidya (Doctor) and Ishwara (God/Master). The main deity is Sri Vaidyanatha. He is the God of Healing.It is one of the nine planets temple and is associated with the planet Mars.

The village is known for palm leaf astrology called Naadi Shastra. The holy waters of the Siddhamirtham tank in the temple premises contains nectar, and a holy dip in the water is believed to cure all diseases.

Nadi Shastra is a form of an astrology practiced around the temple and is based on the belief that the past, present and the future lives of all human beings. The texts are written in an ancient Tamil script called Vatteluttu and is believed to be written by a Tamil sage called Agathiyar. The Nadi leaves were stored in the premises of Tanjore Sarasvati Maha library in Tamil Nadu and later the British had shown interest in the Nadi leaves.

Some leaves got destroyed and the remaining were auctioned during the British rule. These leaves were obtained by the families of astrologers in Vaitheeswaran temple. It is said that by using your thumb impression it is possible to tell everything about your parents, your siblings, you and your future. Nadi is an ancient astrology composed by great Sages of India in the past by their spiritual powers. Pleased with their prayer and devotion, Lord Shiva presented them with this remarkable skill.With the help of the divine guidance, the sages created records of everyone’s past, present and future on palm leaves which are still there even today.The language written on these palm leaves is in Tamil and is understandable to very few people who are well versed with the Nadi Shastra.

Research shows that Nadi Shastra has been in use for at least 5000 years. The Nadi Shastra is believed to be composed long ago by the Sapta Rishis and divine sages.
